RIP Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Our Founding Father. Stop the ignorant comments.

March 23, 2015

When news of Mr Lee Kuan Yew's passing broke out, leaders from all over the world sent in their condolences. It's not just a couple of leaders from South East Asia but even world leaders like President Obama. This is a sad day, not just for Singapore, but also around the world.

Unfortunately, there have been insensitive comments made by some of our citizens. I don't care if you think he made bad decisions, I don't care if you are anti-PAP but to say something inhumane like you're happy about his death? I can only wonder if you even have values as a human. It's not so much about being politically correct or not as it is about your morals. Do you have a heart? Don't you know what respect is? What have your schools taught you? Are your parents be proud of you? Mr Lee has done so much for Singapore, what about you? Can you say the same about your achievements? Have you even done half of what he has done for Singapore?

It deeply saddens me to see young adults disrespecting Mr Lee and not thinking before they speak. Without Mr Lee's guidance, do you think Singapore could be the garden city that we are today? Not only did Mr Lee build Singapore from a third world fishing village to the first world country that we are today, he was a honest leader and a great speaker. I don't need more words to defend him, I don't need to dig up Singapore's history as a rebuttal. The legacy he left behind is the country we, Singaporeans, are living in right now.

You don't have to agree with everything he's done, you don't have to like all the decisions he made but you can't deny that looking at where Singapore is right now, Mr Lee Kuan Yew has done more good than harm. You can argue but you can't deny that this man has made history.

RIP, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, our founding father.
